GERLACH ENDORSED BY CHESTER COUNTY FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE

(Glenmoore, PA) - Congressman Jim Gerlach (PA-6) was unanimously endorsed by the Chester County Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge #11 on Thursday for his long-standing commitment to and strong record of supporting public safety in southeastern Pennsylvania.
"Congressman Gerlach has been a strong ally and friend of law enforcement and Lodge #11 in particular," said John Bailey, spokesman for FOP Lodge #11 and Co-Chair of their Legislative Committee. "We've gone to him numerous times for help and he's always done everything in his power on our behalf. Jim has always been there for us. We're blessed to have him in this district."
Gerlach was proud to receive the Chester County FOP's endorsement in his re-election bid to Congress.
"I am humbled to receive the support of our local police officers and pledge to continue being an effective voice on their behalf in Congress," said Gerlach. "The members of the FOP are leaders in the Chester County community and I'm proud to have their unanimous endorsement."
Over the years, Gerlach has worked closely with law enforcement across the district in helping to secure important funding for projects that strengthen our communities and increase public safety. In particular, Gerlach has helped fund squad car video cameras for 10 northern Chester County police departments, a downtown Reading anti-crime surveillance system, and a state-of-the-art operations vehicle for the Berks County SWAT team. Congressman Gerlach has also fought to restore cuts in the President's proposed FY2011 budget to the COPS Hiring Grant program (13% cut) and the JAG-Byrne Program (50% cut) which provide federal assistance to local police departments and law enforcement agencies.
