DESPITE INQUIRIES, TRIVEDI SILENT FOR OVER A WEEK ON MOSQUE ISSUE

Voter Questions to His Office Go Unanswered

( Glenmoore, PA) - Last week, Congressman Jim Gerlach publicly responded to inquiries about his position on the proposed New York City Islamic center, by stating that although its proponents may have the legal right to build it, they do not have the moral right. He stated that the project lacks sensitivity to the families of the 2,800 Americans who lost their lives two blocks away at the hallowed ground of the Ground Zero site. Gerlach’s opponent, Manan Trivedi, has yet to take a position. In fact, he has failed to respond to inquiries from voters.

Late last week, constituents of the 6th District alerted the Gerlach campaign that they had requested Trivedi's position on the issue, but after more than a week, Trivedi has not responded with his position. Instead, one constituent received a note that stated, "Due to the volume of emails we receive, we will pass your question along to the appropriate department, and it should be answered in the order it was received."

"Voters deserve a Congressman who isn’t afraid to state their position on the easy questions and on the tough questions," said Mark Campbell, spokesman for the Gerlach campaign. "Trivedi shouldn’t hide from voters behind a canned email response, and it's pretty clear he’s trying to run out the clock on this one."
