TRIVEDI, PROUD PELOSI PARTNER, REJECTS JOINING MODERATE BLUE DOG DEMOCRATS
(Glenmoore,
PA) - The campaign of Congressman
Jim Gerlach (R-PA) today congratulated his new liberal opponent Manan Trivedi
for winning the Democratic nomination in the 6thCongressional District by
a razor-thin margin. As part of Trivedi’s pandering to his extreme liberal base
throughout the Primary election, Trivedi embraced at every step the big-government
and massive public debt agenda of Nancy Pelosi by firmly pledging that he would
never join the fiscal conservative Blue Dog Democrats in Congress.
The
Trivedi-Pelosi Checklist on Issues:
- During the
entire Democratic Primary, Trivedi never once disagreed with the Pelosi agenda,
and pledged to never be a member of the Blue Dogs in Congress. According to the Blue Dog Democrats website,
they support the fiscally conservative principles of a cap on federal spending,
a balanced budget, transparency and accountability in government,
performance-based budgeting to control spending, closing tax loopholes, and
eliminating waste, fraud and abuse. Five Pennsylvania Democrats are members of
the Blue Dogs rejected by Trivedi.
- Trivedi is one
of the most liberal candidates in the country when it comes to health care,
promoting a European-style bureaucrat-dominated, government-controlled health
care system that’s even more expensive and further to the left than the law recently
passed. Trivedi claimed during the campaign that the recent health care law
does not go far enough and enthusiastically embraces the public option.
- Even now, after
seeing the failures of last year’s "Stimulus” bill and the massive new
government debt that has resulted, Trivedi still gives his full support to this
spending package which was criticized as the largest spending package in
American history and has done nothing to create private-sector jobs as
originally promised. The stimulus added to the bloated government bureaucracy
and saddled every American with a new massive debt obligation.
- Just to further
prove Trivedi’s extreme liberal credentials, he has publicly stated that he
supports rewarding the estimated 12-17 million illegal immigrants with
citizenship.
"During the liberal love fest over the
last eight months known as the Democratic Primary, Trivedi embraced the Nancy
Pelosi agenda at every turn. Maybe Trivedi’s platform of pushing bigger
government, more debt, government-run health care, and killing American jobs
plays well in San Francisco, but it doesn’t sit well with working families and
seniors in southeastern Pennsylvania,” said Mark Campbell, spokesman for
Gerlach’s campaign. "We look forward to watching Trivedi sprint back to the
center, and we promise to hold him accountable at every turn. His extreme liberal statements and positions
taken during the Democrat primary make him un-electable in November.”
